Yann Faisant's Biography

“In every child there is an artist the problem is how to remain an artist while growing up. Pablo Picasso”

Yann Faisant’s Biography

Yann Faisant is a renowned sculptor based in France, with his works exhibited nationally and across borders, including Italy, Germany, Monaco, and Morocco. His deep passion for alchemy, metalwork, and the intricacies of numbers, especially the Fibonacci sequence, inspired him to establish his own foundry and workshop. Viewing art as an archetype, Faisant is captivated by the dynamic interaction between humans and nature.

Born in 1960, Yann Faisant began his artistic journey as a founder, merging traditional craftsmanship with his creative practices. Over time, his explorations expanded into various mediums, including photography, video, and fire art. His innovative approach led him to digital art, where he developed an artistic application known as “I Mind You,” the cornerstone of his work since 2015.

Faisant’s creative evolution led him to explore the realms of virtual art while maintaining a tangible connection through his mosaic creations. His mosaic paintings, where each tile serves as a pixel, are a testament to his ability to enrich material with profound meaning. These works pay homage to the greatest artistic achievements by both honoring their beauty and subverting it.

Yann Faisant’s “Pixelated Mosaics” collection showcases his unique approach to mosaic art. Each piece in this collection redefines traditional mosaic techniques by integrating digital aesthetics, creating a bridge between the physical and virtual art worlds. The pixelated design mirrors the digital age, transforming timeless art forms into contemporary masterpieces.

The “Opus Magnum” collection by Yann Faisant is a culmination of his life’s work, where he explores the grandeur of artistic creation through large-scale sculptures and intricate designs. This collection embodies the essence of his artistic philosophy—merging classical motifs with modern interpretations, resulting in works that are both monumental and deeply introspective.

1989

Yann Faisant collaborates with Jean-Claude Mazel, visual artist. Together, they establish a true creative dialogue where their respective works express, through different media, the same artistic discourse and the same aesthetic research. They created their own foundry inside their workshop.

2000

Faisant and Mazel bring to life the “Extraordinary Garden”, an original space of formal and conceptual freedom, the garden brings together polychrome patinated bronze sculptures staged in an ensemble that is both idealistic and symbolic but also united in a positive aesthetic research. The international recognition of this project seals their artistic legitimacy, “the Extraordinary Garden” is exhibited in numerous galleries, particularly in Europe and China, and numerous institutional and private collectors participate in the continuity of the work.

The exhibition S’âme-user (Galerie Art Diffusion – Paris), explores alchemical themes using animals or animae (spirit – soul), and sees the appearance of the apple, a mythical and narrative symbol of nature. This natural object stands out to Yann Faisant as obvious and has an artistic continuity with Ginkgo Biloba.

Faisant implements the perfection of nature by using the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical sequence that tends towards perfection. He creates and exhibits seven sculptures: seven apples in bronze and 24-carat gold from 7.6 cm to 137 cm in diameter topped with a Ginkgo Biloba leaf, in a series with perfect continuity. For this composition, the artist relied on the theory of the golden ratio, also called divine proportion.

Faisant decides to decline Opus Magnum and address the themes of alchemy, transformation, and resistance through different Opuses. He stages a philosophical and artistic quest through the constituent elements of his work, nature, man, the universe and creates a series of sculptures, hybrid fruits, made following the Fibonacci sequence.

Yann Faisant is interested in digital art and is developing an artistic application I Mind You whose postulate “thought is creative” makes it possible to share works of art by integrating text and sound and thus pay homage to the great masters of paint.

During Cop 22, the I MIND YOU project or the journey of an inflatable structure (hot air balloon), Applen13 is revealed. This inflatable structure built according to the Fibonacci sequence with a diameter of 19.2m is required to visit sites declared in danger as World Heritage Sites to draw the public’s attention to what is appropriate to preserve. The project for an artistic digital platform is launched by Faisant.
